Francesco Daniel Donati graduated with honors in Law in 2008 from the University of Pavia.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Parallel to his legal studies he cultivates a passion for music, history and theater. After a few\u00a0 years of legal consulting in 2013 he decided to devote himself definitively to cultural and\u00a0 musical promotion and attended the <\/span>Master in Performing Arts Management (MASP) <\/b>at\u00a0 <\/span>Bocconi University <\/b>in collaboration with the <\/span>Accademia della Scala <\/b>and the <\/span>Piccolo Teatro\u00a0 di Milano<\/b>. The Master follows a work experience at the <\/span>Op\u00e9ra National de Paris <\/b>where he is\u00a0 involved in the educational project <\/span>Dix Mois d’Ecole et d’Op\u00e9ra <\/span><\/i>and in the production of the\u00a0 show 14+18, which will also take him on tour to the <\/span>Op\u00e9ra de Reims <\/b>and the <\/span>Op\u00e9ra National\u00a0 de Lorraine<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Starting in 2007, he worked with the <\/span>Association of Italian Historic Houses (ADSI) <\/b>– Youth\u00a0 Group, of which he is <\/span>President <\/b>of the Lombardy Region between 2011 and 2013 and member\u00a0 of the national board between 2011 and 2015. With ADSI, he has organized the \u201cCortili Aperti\u201d\u00a0 event in Milan, Brescia and Crema for several years. The event aims to open private historic\u00a0 buildings normally not accessible to the public, also organizing concerts, art exhibitions and\u00a0 historic car shows inside them. The event is very successful going to intercept an audience of\u00a0 tens of thousands of people every year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

From 2009 he is <\/span>Founder <\/b>and <\/span>Director <\/b>of the <\/span>Bottesini Association<\/b>. In the same year he\u00a0 produced the Giovanni Bottesini’s opera \u201cEro e Leandro,\u201d recovered from the autograph\u00a0 manuscript after more than a century of absence from the theatrical stage. The production\u00a0 features bass Roberto Scandiuzzi, and a DVD is being made of the opera distributed by the\u00a0 Dynamic record company. Important musical and operatic events follow \u201cEro e Leandro.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

With the Association he <\/span>founded <\/b>in 2015 the <\/span>Portofino International Opera Competition – CLIP, <\/b>of which he is <\/span>Artistic Director <\/b>and General Director. The project was born in 2015 with\u00a0 the aim of creating a competition that was transparent and gave real job opportunities. For the\u00a0 first time in Italy, only superintendents or casting directors of major international theaters,\u00a0 figures capable of signing contracts, were invited to serve on the jury. Since the first edition,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

the president of the jury has been Maestro Dominique Meyer, superintendent of the Teatro alla\u00a0 Scala, with whom a fruitful collaboration was born. In ten editions there have been nearly\u00a0 2,500 singers entered and more than 80 di^erent countries involved. In just a few years, the\u00a0 competition has gained a prominent place among the world’s most esteemed opera\u00a0 competitions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Jury members include: Dominique Meyer (Superintendent – Teatro alla Scala), Peter De\u00a0 Caluwe (Director – La Monnaie in Brussels), Fortunato Ortombina (Superintendent – La Fenice\u00a0 in Venice), Sophie De Lint (Director – Dutch National Opera & Ballet), Eva Kleinitz (Director – Opera National du Rhin), Thobias Richter (Director – Grand Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de Gen\u00e8ve), Christophe\u00a0 Gristie (Artistic Director – Capitole de Toulouse), Joan Matabosch (Artistic Director – Teatro\u00a0 Real de Madrid), Sophie Joyce (Casting Director – Op\u00e9ra National de Paris), Olga Kapanina\u00a0 (Casting Director – Bolshoi Theater Moscow), Gianni Tangucci (Maggio Musicale Fiorentino),\u00a0 Eva Maria Wieser (Casting Manager – Salzburg Festival), Claudio Orazi (Superintendent of the\u00a0 Carlo Felice Theater in Genoa), Cristiano Sandri (Artistic Director of the Teatro Regio in Turin),\u00a0 Carolin Wielputz (Director of Artistic Administration of the An der Wien Theater in Vienna),\u00a0 Jonathan Friend (Artistic Advisor – Metropolitan Opera in New York and Irish National Opera),\u00a0 Alessandro Di Gloria (Casting Director – Teatro Massimo in Palermo), Valerio Tura ( Casting\u00a0 Manager – New National Theatre in Tokyo).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Since 2017 he has been a protagonist together with Maestro Enrico Fagone in the revival of the\u00a0 historic <\/span>Bottesini Competition<\/b>, of which he is the <\/span>General Director.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

The Bottesini Competition was founded in 1989 on the initiative of Maestro Franco Petracchi.\u00a0 From the beginning it was considered the most important prize for double bassists from all\u00a0 over the world. In 2003, the competition was interrupted after 5 editions and was resumed\u00a0 only in 2017, under the general direction of Francesco Daniel Donati de’ Conti and the artistic\u00a0 direction of Enrico Fagone (nominated for Grammy Awards in 2023). In 2024, the nineth\u00a0 edition of the competition took place with 76 competitors from 29 di^erent countries. The\u00a0 Bottesini Competition is the most watched classical music competition in Italy, having the\u00a0 videos published in the last four years obtained more than 600 thousand views.\u00a0 Jury members include Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giuranna, Fabio Vacchi, Franco Petracchi,\u00a0 Gary Karr, Thomas Martin and Enrico Fagone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In the wake of the success of Luca Guadagnino’s film \u201cCall me by your name,\u201d which was shot\u00a0 in Crema, in 2018 Donati <\/span>founded <\/b>the <\/span>Crema Film Festival<\/b>, of which he is <\/span>Artistic Director<\/b>.\u00a0 The festival is dedicated to Cremasque documentary filmmaker Leonardo Bonzi. In addition\u00a0 to screening films in original language in Piazza Duomo and other locations in Crema, the\u00a0 festival has hosted industry personalities, events, performances and concerts. Among the\u00a0 artists involved were director Marco Tullio Giordana, Rai documentary filmmaker Davide De\u00a0 Michelis, actress Angela Fontana and trumpeter Paolo Fresu.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

With the Bottesini Association, in collaboration with Cremona’s Teatro Ponchielli, in 2023 he\u00a0 <\/span>founded <\/b>the <\/span>Cavalli Monteverdi Competition<\/b>, of which he is <\/span>Artistic Director<\/b>, along with\u00a0 Andrea Cigni. The baroque singing competition is named after Francesco Cavalli from\u00a0 Cremona and Claudio Monteverdi from Cremona, the fathers of opera, and attracts hundreds\u00a0 of young singers from around the world. The winners, in addition to cash prizes, win a role in\u00a0 operas by Monteverdi and Cavalli and make their debut at the Monteverdi Festival in\u00a0 Cremona. Jury members include Laurent Brunner, artistic director of Ch\u00e2teau de Versailles\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Together with M\u00b0 Enrico Fagone, a conductor nominated in 2023 for a Grammy Award for a\u00a0 record with the London Symphony Orchestra, he <\/span>founded <\/b>in 2024 the <\/span>Orchestra Bottesini, <\/b>of\u00a0 which he is <\/span>Artistic Director<\/b>. The orchestra aims to bring together the best young musical\u00a0 talents to o^er them an educational experience and great professional growth.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Francesco Daniel Donati was also a <\/span>Consultant <\/b>to the <\/span>Bologna Festival <\/b>in 2019 and in the\u00a0 beginning of 2024 was appointed as <\/span>Head of production <\/b>of the <\/span>Orchestra della Svizzera\u00a0 Italiana <\/b>working closely with artists such as Martha Argerich, Charles Dutoit, Rey Chen,\u00a0 Emmanuel Pahud, and many others.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
