PortofinoORCHESTRA FILARMONICA DI PARMA A. TOSCANINI

The Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, which is based in Parma, is the point of excellence for the musical activity of the Arturo Toscanini Foundation, performing excellence matured in the over thirty years of experience of the Orchestra Regionale dell'Emilia-Romagna and in the musical tradition of the past whose roots can be found in the Orchestra Ducale re-established in Parma by Niccolò Paganini in 1835-36.

Today one of Italy’s leading symphony orchestras, the Filarmonica has performed under the direction of numerous renowned conductors, including Dutoit, Inbal, Fruhbeck de Burgos, Gelmetti, Jurowski, Maazel, Masur, Mehta, Prêtre, Rostropovich, Tate and Temirkanov. It has received enthusiastic public and critical acclaim major concert halls throughout the world, among which Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Hamburg, Moscow, Lucerne, Budapest, Warsaw, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Beijing. A process of on-going innovation in its musical program has recently led to a broadening of its repertory that ranges from the classics of the 19th century and musical frontiers of the 20th century, up to current-day avant-garde works. Accompanying this initiative has been the invitation extended to a new group of conductors, all part of the younger generation, already acclaimed on an international level.

Since 2006 to the present, this has seen the enthusiastic successes on the podium of the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini of such names as Kazushi Ono, who on January 1, 2012 became its Principal Guest Conductor, Jurowski, Sokhiev, Valčuha, Alessandrini, Mariotti, Axelrod, Conlon and Francesco Lanzillotta, Principal Conductor from 2014 to 2017. Since 2007 the Filarmonica Toscanini has been resident orchestra of the Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition and since 2012 artistic partner of the Festival Verdi of Parma. Her main concert season, Nuove Atmosfere, has long been sold in subscription. January 27, 2016, at the Sala Santa Cecilia Auditorium in Rome and live on RAI5 Channel, the Orchestra held the International Holocaust Remembrance Day Concert, performing the same program conducted by Toscanini in the first concert of the Palestine Orchestra.

As of January 2017 the Foundation will transfer to its new multipurpose production home, the Arturo Toscanini Music Center which is situated on the Eridania Park of Parma, just a few meters from the Auditorium Paganini designed by Renzo Piano, headquarters of their concerts.
The young British conductor Alpesh Chauhan has just been announced as Principal Conductor from September 2017.
CePIM is the Toscanini Foundation’s Institutional Partner as well HeraComm is the Filarmonica Toscanini Institutional Partner.
